Emma Bevis and I arranged a fundraising extravaganza over 2 days in March 2007 in support of Ovarian Cancer Action for ovarian cancer awareness month in DFID. Our colleagues supported us by buying raffle tickets, donating raffle prizes, taking part in the quiz, or belting out some tunes at the karaoke evening! The atmosphere for the 'Love Women' night was electric and DFID was transformed with balloons, cocktails, chocolate, popcorn and marshmallow treats everywhere! There was lots of laughter, and even a few tears as the medley of the best chick flicks ever blared across the big screen! People were queuing up to have their nails manicured or to buy raffle tickets, hoping to win a signed football, massage, dinner for two or even weekend away in Exmoor and the champagne flowed as the winners of the movie quiz celebrated! Some of the especially talented ones came back the next day for Part 2, the Disco/ Karaoke night. All singers donated money before singing songs with the words 'lady', 'woman' or 'girl' in the title and there were some very impressive performances indeed! In total we raised a staggering total of £1,717 over just two nights! You can see the pictures in the gallery. Jas
